Citizenship ceremonies in Hobart

This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the City of Hobart area. Ceremonies are held at Hobart Town Hall and at the Sandy Bay Regatta Grounds. You cannot choose or book a ceremony through the city.

How you are invited

Home Affairs picks a ceremony for you by your home address. It sends the invitation about four weeks before, and at least three weeks before. You must reply with the RSVP link in the invitation, and then you get an email with an information sheet.

Ceremonies run through the year.

Guests and what to wear

The invitation tells you the most guests you can bring.

You can choose which version of the pledge you say. Tell the city early if you need help with access.

What happens at the ceremony

You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
