Citizenship ceremonies in Brisbane
This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the Brisbane City Council area. The council lists 13 ceremony dates for 2026. The Department of Home Affairs decides who goes to which ceremony.
How you are invited
Home Affairs looks after the guest lists and the timetable. When it gives you a place, you get an invitation by email and by post.
When ceremonies are held
Ceremonies run through the year, and the council lists 13 dates for 2026.
Coming ceremony dates
- Monday 2 November 2026
- Monday 9 November 2026
- Monday 30 November 2026
Dates can change. Your invitation gives your own date and time.
The ceremony details sit in a short section of the council's Inclusive Brisbane page. To apply for citizenship, you deal with Home Affairs, not the council.

What happens at the ceremony
You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
