Citizenship ceremonies in Toowoomba
This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the Toowoomba Regional Council area. Around 1,700 local people become citizens each year at these ceremonies. The next listed date is 19 November 2026.
How you are invited
Home Affairs sends the council a list of approved people four to six weeks before each ceremony, and the council then emails you a formal invitation roughly four weeks ahead. It can take six to 12 months after approval, and usually under six months. You cannot choose your ceremony.
When ceremonies are held
Ceremonies are held regularly, with sessions at 10am and 2pm on each date.

What happens at the ceremony
You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
