Citizenship ceremonies in Moreton Bay

This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the City of Moreton Bay area. The council lists six ceremonies for 2026. Allow about two hours for a ceremony.

How you are invited

Home Affairs sets the date. About 4 weeks before the ceremony, the council sends your invitation by email or post. This is generally within six months of approval.

When ceremonies are held

The council lists six ceremonies for 2026.

Coming ceremony dates

  • Friday 13 November 2026

Dates can change. Your invitation gives your own date and time.

What to bring

  • photo ID, such as a driver's licence or passport
  • if you have no photo ID, three papers showing your name, address and signature
  • no photo ID is needed for children under 16

Guests and what to wear

The invitation says how many guests you may bring.

Wear formal or smart casual clothes, or national or cultural dress. The same goes for your guests.

The ceremony includes a welcome, a Welcome to Country, a message from the Minister, the pledge and the national anthem. Children on your application become citizens at the same time as you. Anyone 16 or older must come and take the pledge.

What happens at the ceremony

You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
