Citizenship ceremonies in Blacktown
This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the Blacktown City Council area. The council says the wait is currently 3 to 6 months. Ceremonies start at 7.30 pm.
How you are invited
Home Affairs tells you the date and time. It gives places in the order that applications were approved, so the council cannot say when your turn will come.
When ceremonies are held
The council holds a number of ceremonies through the year and lists 17 dates for 2026.
Coming ceremony dates
- Tuesday 10 November 2026
- Tuesday 1 December 2026
- Tuesday 15 December 2026
Dates can change. Your invitation gives your own date and time.
Guests and what to wear
Each person can bring only one guest.
The ceremony begins with a Welcome to Country and a corroboree, then speeches. You must read the pledge, and photos follow. The dates can change.

What happens at the ceremony
You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
