Citizenship ceremonies in Fairfield
This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the Fairfield City Council area. The council holds ceremonies through the year. For questions about your application or your place on the list, you must ask Home Affairs.
How you are invited
About six months after your approval letter, Home Affairs sends a second letter that asks you to come to a Fairfield City Council ceremony. Home Affairs handles the places and does not move anyone up the list.
When ceremonies are held

The council cannot answer questions about your status or your place on the waiting list.

What happens at the ceremony
You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
