Citizenship ceremonies in Cockburn
This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the City of Cockburn area. The city usually holds one ceremony a month, on a Monday evening, apart from December. The wait from approval to invitation is about three to four months.
How you are invited
Roughly 6 weeks ahead of each ceremony, the city receives a list of names from Home Affairs. The city emails your invitation when your details are on it. If you get no email, your details have not reached the city yet. Ceremonies close for new names at least 4 weeks before. Only people living in Cockburn can come.
When ceremonies are held
Ceremonies are usually held once a month on Monday evenings, except in December.

What happens at the ceremony
You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
