Citizenship ceremonies in Gosnells

This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the City of Gosnells area. The city holds regular ceremonies, and each one takes about an hour. Questions about dates and urgent ceremonies go to Home Affairs.

How you are invited

Home Affairs makes a monthly list and decides who goes to each ceremony. When the city has the list, it emails an invitation about 5 weeks before. This is generally within six months of approval. You only reply if you cannot come, and then you are invited to a later ceremony.

When ceremonies are held

The city holds regular ceremonies.

What to bring

  • photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport
  • a holy book or scripture, if you take the oath that mentions God (optional)

Guests and what to wear

Each person can bring only one guest.

Light refreshments follow. Children aged 16 and over must come and say the pledge. Younger children cannot come, because of space, and their certificate comes with a parent's.

What happens at the ceremony

You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
