Citizenship ceremonies in Perth
This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the City of Perth area. This council covers the city centre, and people in other suburbs are invited by their own local council. The ceremonies are held at Council House.
How you are invited
You can only come if the City of Perth has invited you. The city cannot give you a date until it has the list from Home Affairs. If you cannot come, let the city know, and you get the next date on offer. You have 12 months from your approval date.
When ceremonies are held
The city has several dates in 2026, and the wait is three to six months.
Coming ceremony dates
- Wednesday 4 November 2026
- Tuesday 26 January 2027
Dates can change. Your invitation gives your own date and time.

Guests and what to wear
Each person can bring one adult guest. Children of candidates are welcome and do not count as guests.

What happens at the ceremony
You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
