Citizenship ceremonies in Stirling

This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the City of Stirling area. Ceremonies are held in the City's Reception Hall. Registration opens at 5.00pm and the ceremony starts at 6.00pm.

How you are invited

Home Affairs picks the people, and the city only gets lists before each ceremony. The city emails your invitation about four to six weeks before. It cannot take people who live outside its area.

When ceremonies are held

The city holds regular ceremonies.

Where ceremonies are held

  • City's Reception Hall

What to bring

  • photo ID, such as a driver's licence or passport, if you are 16 or older

Guests and what to wear

You can bring two guests. Children under 16 do not count as guests.

Smart casual or traditional dress is suggested.

The formal part usually takes under an hour, and then there are refreshments in the lobby. You can say an oath that mentions God, or an affirmation.

What happens at the ceremony

You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
