Citizenship ceremonies in Joondalup

This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the City of Joondalup area. The city holds 11 ceremonies each year, including one on Australia Day. The wait is three to six months from your approval letter.

How you are invited

Home Affairs puts people in ceremonies, and the city can name a date only once Home Affairs says you are approved. The city emails the invitation about 6 weeks before, and at least four weeks before.

Guests and what to wear

The city tells you how many guests are allowed at each ceremony.

Children aged 16 and over must come and say the pledge. Younger children are welcome. The city cannot give out new copies of a lost certificate.

What happens at the ceremony

You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
