Citizenship ceremonies in Swan

This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the City of Swan area. Ceremonies are monthly, usually on a Tuesday evening, with a larger one on 26 January. You must attend in the area where you live.

How you are invited

Home Affairs sets the date, and you should get about one month's notice.

When ceremonies are held

Ceremonies are monthly, usually on a Tuesday evening, with a larger one on 26 January.

What to bring

  • photo ID, such as a passport or driver's licence, if you are 16 or over
  • your invitation

Guests and what to wear

You can bring your children and one adult guest.

Smart casual or formal clothes. Cultural dress is also fine.

Monthly ceremonies take about one hour, with photos. Children under 16 are welcome but do not have to come. The city sends a free photo by email about a week later.

What happens at the ceremony

You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
