Citizenship ceremonies in Brimbank
This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the Brimbank City Council area. The council lists seven ceremony dates for 2026. You must attend in your own council area or at a ceremony run by the department.
How you are invited
Home Affairs gives out the places and sends the invitation, by email, about 3 to 4 weeks before. This is generally within 6 months of approval. The council cannot give dates or fast track anyone. Your approval may be cancelled if 12 months pass after approval and you have not made the pledge.

What happens at the ceremony
You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
