Citizenship ceremonies in Kingston

This page is for people becoming Australian citizens in the City of Kingston area. The council lists seven dates for 2026, and the next one is on 5 November. You must live in the City of Kingston.

How you are invited

Home Affairs confirms your ceremony and sends you an email, normally 3 to 4 weeks ahead. Then the council sends a separate RSVP invitation, and you must reply to confirm your place.

When ceremonies are held

The council holds regular ceremonies and lists seven dates for 2026.

  • Thursday 5 November 2026

Dates can change. Your invitation gives your own date and time.

Where ceremonies are held

  • Kingston City Hall

What to bring

  • your invitation
  • one photo ID, such as a driver licence or passport
  • if you have no photo ID, at least 3 papers showing your name, address and signature

Guests and what to wear

The number of guests is not limited, but seats are few and cannot be promised. Guests sit in a separate part from new citizens.

Formal or smart casual clothes, or national or cultural dress.

Allow up to two hours. You get a private link to watch the ceremony online. Parking at the hall is very limited.

What happens at the ceremony

You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
