Guests and what to wear

Families are asked to bring just one guest. Dependent children can come with their parent or carer.

Formal or smart casual clothes, or national or cultural dress.

You can register from one hour before, and registration closes 15 minutes before the start. If you arrive late, you are turned away. Each candidate gets a small gift bag.

What happens at the ceremony

You make the Australian Citizenship Pledge in front of the people at the ceremony. You become an Australian citizen when you make the pledge, not before. After the pledge you should receive your citizenship certificate. If it is not ready on the day, it comes by post.
